NDF Executive Meeting … Sunday, Aug. 02, 2008.

DECISIONS TAKEN AT THE EXECUTIVE MEETING OF NDF THAT TOOK PLACE AT SECAM ACCRA ON AUGUST 2, 2008

The meeting started at 3:10pm with a prayer by Mr. S. Adam. This was followed by a welcome message from the Chairman of the Northern Development Forum (NDF).
The issues discusses included the following:
1) A summary of the matters that were discussed at the June 7, 2008 meeting that took place at Dr. Wemah’s house, Accra.
2) A Report on the Easter School in Bolgatanga
3) Contact with Regional Houses of Chiefs of the three northern regions ( They have given NDF their blessings. There is the need to continue the dialogue tithe them)
4) Separate meetings held by Dr. Wemah with Hon. Ndebugre and Mr. Yiremiah regarding the conflict in Bawku.
5) NDF to visit people from the two warring factions in Bawku who have been brought to Nsawam Prison. ( Visit on Saturday August 23, 2008)
6) Mr. Adam informed the meeting about Obour’s Peace initiative for Ghana with particular reference to Bawku. Official Launch of the programme will be held on August 6, 2008 at Alisa Hotel, North Ridge. Dr. Wemah will chair the function. Mr. Sulley Adam is to help coordinate the role of NDF in this exercise.
7) To officially invite some opinion leaders and other identifiable groups/associations from the North to the next general meeting of NDF.
8) To Officially inform Development Partners in Ghana about the existence of NDF
9) Mrs. Mahana to arrange for the Chairman of NDF to meet the Chief Adviser to the President of Ghana on the Memo that NDF intends submitting to the latter.
10) There was the need to send a memo to the British High Commission for Britain to come out with a financial package for the development of the North of Ghana.( with particular reference to the colonial policy on the area that probably resulted in the poor development of the North).
11) To keep close contact with the Group in Bolgatanga that is advocating for the development of the North.
12) To arrange to pay a courtesy call on Chief Afede of the Asogli Traditional Area for his donation to NDF for the flood victims of the three northern regions.
13) Get draft of a Memo for President of Ghana ready before the next general meeting.
14) The next general meeting to be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the GBC Club House at 3:00pm.
 
The meeting closed with a prayer said by Dr. Hafiz at 5:15am.
